As companies rush to improve B2B integration, they often realize that their enterprise application integration (EAI) strategy is a major stumbling block on the road to any-to-any e-Commerce. Many companies then spend time and money developing EAI solutions that often ignore the realities of changing B2B technologies. By the time their EAI plan is complete, e-Commerce has shifted.
Now there's a better way — an enterprise integration solution that not only looks at the problem from the inside, but also offers the flexibility, extensibility and scalability to meet the most rigorous demands of e-Commerce.
TIE Integrator is a scalable client/server application designed to integrate applications, whether the data is derived from EDI, XML, legacy applications, on-line ordering systems, web applications or enterprise-wide distributed database systems, including ERP, CRM, SFA, logistics, HR, and Asset Management. Fully extensible and adaptable to any data standard (including EDI and XML), TIE Integrator effortlessly conveys and transforms data from enterprise-wide transactions. It’s an easy-to-use application that can track, transform and route data passing through your company's information systems around the clock.
“It’s an easy-to-use application that can track, transform and route data passing through your company’s information systems around the clock.”
On the outside, TIE Integrator looks easy. Users don’t have to be a programmers to use its powerful and intuitive graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI client provides interactive administration, cross-referencing and transformation tools that help you get the most out of TIE Integrator. Using drag-and-drop functionality, a user defines source and destination, while the tool provides automated acquisition of dataset metadata. Simple “point and click” programmatic function selection applies business rules to any link within a transaction, and validation can be applied to either internal or external data sources. Full on-line help and documentation is provided for all available features. Both user security and collaboration have been addressed, with unique features that also leverage underlying system and network capability. The TIE Integrator client is written in Java for easy portability, and generates Java for the run-time engine.
On the inside, TIE Integrator’s server engine does the real work of moving document data to and from applications. TIE Integrator’s full-featured server engine couples datasets and enforces business rules, providing cross-referencing and validation. Integrator’s reliability permits 24/7, attended or unattended (“lights out”) operations. Connectivity is through ODBC and JDBC drivers, providing universal platform access. Transaction definitions may access any element of an inbound document at any time during processing. Database operations can cross multiple instances, and include any standard SQL operation, such as selects, inserts, updates, deletes, joins and unions. The server permits intervention in the construction, posting or extraction of a document, and is responsible for database transaction controls, such as commits, rollbacks and locking. A dynamic Cross Reference Manager adds new types as needed, tracking items, ship-to locations, units of measure, etc.
An API provides document level feedback and status, enabling ready access by messaging systems and translation packages. Adapters provide read/write access to a variety of data sources (RDBMS, flat files, XML data streams, HTML files). Adapters also permit execution of remote procedure calls (RPC), stored procedures, or any other external function. The API readily lends itself to various scripted or compiled solutions using Java, Python, Perl, C++ and other common languages. New transaction modules may be added to the system to handle those not available in the application, such as ASNs, RFQs, POs, etc. These features allow TIE Integrator to facilitate rapid application development, and the easy deployment of Web-based applications.
